KLEIN KAROO International is world famous for the finest ostrich plumes. With the establishment of the KLEIN KAROO Co-operative (KKC) in 1945, regular feather auctions were introduced. It became the only recognized ostrich feather marketing system in the world. During 1980, these auctions were terminated.
KLEIN KAROO International then engaged in direct marketing and sales to wholesalers, manufacturers, retailers and outlets worldwide. After the deregulation of the South African ostrich industry in 1993 producers could also sell directly to buyers of their choice and sourced by themselves. However KLEIN KAROO International today still continues to perform a world class demand driven agency feather service to its members.
